A request from a bride: To show two brothers and dad as protectors/gatekeepers (not sure how to word that) of the bride. Shot/shots should also include groom to tell the story that basically he had to get through brothers and dad to get to her.

Dad and brothers are tall and usually wear dark sunglasses outside (think secret service agent types). So I am thinking of lining up the three with groom behind and bride in front but not really sure how that would work. Groom is shorter than dad and brothers so I'll have to take that into account.

This photo and the dad first seeing his daughter are the only two photos she has requested, so I know it's important to her.

Suggestions for a fun way to portray this?

Dad and brother standing facing the camera, arms folded, sunglasses on, shoulders about 2 feet apart. Maybe angled slightly away from each other to form a loose "V" shape.
Bride behind them, blocked/protected inside the "V", facing camera, looking over their shoulders at the camera.
Groom about 10 feet closer to the camera, facing the bride and away from the camera (shooting his back).
Camera about 20 feet from the bride.
Stern facial expression on dad/brother. Play with different faces for the bride - surprised, helpless, pining. Maybe put her hands on their shoulders like she's trying to pry them apart and get through.

Shoot past the groom's right shoulder, framing to include full-length of the bride/dad/brother, but cropping out the groom's legs and left arm/shoulder. With this composition it doesn't matter how tall the groom is, as long as the dad/brother are approximately the same height.

Thank you, Nathan. That helps a ton! I was thinking along the same lines but I envisioned the dad/brothers shoulder to shoulder and that posed a problem for seeing the bride. lol Sometimes my brain just gets stuck on an idea and can't move along to formulate the next. I appreciate your help.

:) likely not. Bride and groom are very traditional and wouldn't want even a whisper of a "shot gun" wedding.

To be clear, I wasn't thinking of firearms. More like bats or sticks, just to add a little menace.

It's so broad of a thing, there's endless ways to show it.

Watch dragonball Z for epic composition ideas of opposing forces. I would not do it on a wedding day, but sounds like a fun creative shoot to do a few weeks before.
