Perfect Sharpening Action!!!!!

awesome sharpening action there, if you look at the steps it does usm 3 times, supposed to have better quality or something. anyways, works realy well, checkitout


30mm, 50mm, 85mm, and some zooms here and there.

I have my own sharpening action.

Duplicate the layer
Filter->Other-> High Pass
Drag the slider 3/4 way
Click OK
Change blending mode to "Overlay"
Lower the opacity.

yeah, ive done that, but never realy liked it (i used it on hard light instead of overlay though) , I prefer this action.

I use custom filters, set up as an action (Do a google for 'better then USM'). I think I'll give this one a try though. At last sensible use is made of layers/blending. Don't know about the radius being '1' in the first step though... Anything beyond 0,5 is too high IMO

USM Radius completely depends on the output. I agree with your statement when sharpening web-sized files, but for printing 300 DPI portraits you can easily hit a Radius of 3. I generally consider a Radius of 1.5 to be the starting point for 300 DPI prints, and adjust that higher or lower depending on detail levels.

yeah, but later the action changes the layers blanding mode so that the layer with 1 radius sharpening doesnt show up as much (only sharpens the mid tones)
