The best definition I have run across is: flavor of the blur. It is not just about smooth. It is about the background. Is it busy? Distracting? Does it add to the subject? Is the transition between the in focus and OOF slow or fast? Very important, IMO. Main reason I have so many different lenses = different bokehs. Gene GEAR LIST
