This colorful subject was enjoying a sunny afternoon after days and days of rain.

Sweet Leon!
The perched fellow is a wonderfully classic pose for the Pileated and you captured it very nicely. The IF image, now that's just special! It's always neat to see underwing details and you've given us all a grand view. Very nicely done!

VERY well done Leon. I still haven't managed a flight shot of a Pileated, not the easiest task. Your exposure is spot on, nice detail in the black plumage.

Thanks all, my own cc; I wish my IF shot was a little more steady.

Those are very good photos of the Pileated.
I would be proud to have them in my portfolio.

One thing I would like to see, just to see if it works, is a crop of the in flight more to the left of frame and a crop of the standing more to the right of frame. I just wonder if they would look even better set off to the 1/3 area.

LOVE both of these Leon. The in-flight is super and a shot I still aspire to. He looks like a big one!
