Yes, I know that Canon does not service this antique lens but I have a minor issue that I'm hoping someone here can help me out with. The rubber zoom ring is stretched out and in desperate need of replacement.

I tried to find a replacement zoom ring on eBay and Amazon but can't seem to find one. Is there a current zoom ring that might fit the lens that can be substituted? Any DIY recommendations as I might used slap some gaffer tape?

That is a very common issue with the lens, mine has it aswell.

An idea?: Cut it loose and shorten it a little bit, then glue it directly onto the lens. Dont know if that works.

I don't know if it would work, but you could take it off, then put some wide superbands on the lens and then put the original stretched zoom ring over top of them. it might take up the slack and still provide a solid grip.

I haven't tried it on mine, but I'm thinking a black Lens Band would have to be stretched to mount to the 80-200. If needed, a dab or two of rubber cement and you should be all set!

Those look like those rubber wristbands that kids wear. They might not be, but they sure look like it. Those are probably a buck at a a dollar store if you dont care about a specific color - otherwise search.
