GPS is worldwide, right? My wife is going to China for the month of July and will be using her s100. I imagine if she uses this function it will lower the battery life, anyone have experience with this?

GPS is worldwide. GPS will use more battery. Depending on the proximity of large buildings, or if she is inside, she may not get a satellite lock and those images may not be tagged, but she can probably "interpolate" her location.

...and be prepared that when she first turns on the camera, it can take several minutes before the position of the camera is acquired. This is perfectly normal when a large change of position has occured since last acquiring satellities, in your case I assume going from Florida to China.

Yes from Florida, I probably won't turn that on for her, if there are any issues I won't be there to help
