A Great Egret displaying during courtship is a common sight in the spring but I can't resist clickin' away when I see it each year. I captured these in Florida at Wakodahatchee Wetlands this past April. Sad that those beautiful plumes nearly cost them their existence in the late 1800s, all in the name of fashion. What a shame it would have been.

Absolutely stunning shots, I can see why you would never tire from shooting them. And a sight I've never witnessed so thanks for sharing.

Nicely done, Steve. They are mystical to watch when they go into display mode, aren't they?

I have never seen them in display mode in CA. Hope to sometime, meanwhile living vicariously through your magnificent set of shots until that day comes. But of course my shots will be snapshots compared to your fantastic work!

Steve,

I never get tired of Great Egret photographs. We have a few places around here where you can see their displays in the spring. It is amazing. They are pretty cool the rest of the year as well, just not as spectacular.

Your photographs capture their beauty perfectly. Well done.
