Hi to all,
Firstly thank you for taking the time to view my topic. I need some advice on buying an upgrade. Currently I have a Canon 550D and wish to upgrade this in the future. However I am thinking which one to get and also I have come across a website selling the Canon 6D at a “to good to be true price” at slrhut

However my question is what is better for upgrade and also how good is this website.

Regards

Jatish

What kind of shots do you normally take? Landscape/kids/pets/architecture/sports/etc? 6D and 7D are such different beasts; while they might end up the same price, they'll perform completely differently depending on how you plan on using them

6D is full frame while 7d has 1.6 corp sensor

7D uses CF type memory card.

There is a rumor that 7d mark II is about to release this year.

So hold tight at this moment.

Otherwise 6D is good entry level full frame camera but please note that your EF-S lens won't work.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply I take a lot of landscape, still life photos, architecture and some family events and I’m I right to think there will be a new Canon 7D MK II out shortly?

Thanks I am aware that the EF-S wont work and I will have to think about holding off

your EF28-80 on a 6D will behave like the 18-55 on your current camera. The 6D fit's you perfectly, and even the 7D2 will be no match for your shooting style.

If the price is too good to be true, it is probably too good to be true.

From the link you posted, I assume you are a UK resident. Have you checked out refurbished cameras? I have had great luck with refurbished products in the past. You should look into it.

Here is the US Canon site. They have a great deals going on right now. I just ordered a 6d and am pretty pleased with the deal I got.

Hopefully there is something equivalent on your side of the ocean.

6d will work great for what you're shooting.

Heya,

6D over any APS-C sensor camera if you're shooting landscape, still life, architecture and portraiture.

Very best,

Hi,

Thank you for your reply I take a lot of landscape, still life photos, architecture and some family events ...

This says 6D.
Nothing about this would lead me to lean towards a 7Ds faster AF, and pixel density. It all says, 6D!

I use my 6D for event photography mostly where light is no good and it is a different world from my old xti or t2i. I find it just fine for kids sports as well when using the center focus point and a 2.8 lens

I just upgraded from 7D to 6D. Absolutely no comparison - go for the 6D! I may keep the 7D but only when I want to capture birds in flight or fast action sports.

Bottom line my first comment about the 7D is that Post Processing should not be 90% noise reduction! The IQ of the 6D is light-years ahead of the 7D.

6D, for what you shoot. 7D is for action and wildlife, you'd be better served with a FF landscape/portrait body. It's no action shooter, but with the 6D you get basically the same image as from a 5DMk3 for about half the price, which is pretty great.

I had a 7D and decided to buy the 6D. Since getting the 6D, my 7D has sat in the cabinet. I haven't found anything I shoot that the 6D can't handle. Get a 6D. You won't be disappointed.

6D if you're doing architecture and landscapes. Noise handling is much better on the 6D. 7D is great if you're shooting a lot of sports and action.
