If you have that much NR on your 7D images, something is really wrong.

As we already know too, any same gen FF is going to produce better results than the same gen APS-C, by around 1 stop or so. However, the 6D is the 3rd FF introduced since the 7D came out, it better be good, and one might even have expected more than what there is. ;)

I must admit I likely overstated that. The 7D really isn't that bad but I do end up in low light enough times I get tired of processing NR. After the purchase of the 6D it is so much better I am just a bit thrilled with the images I get from it at fairly high ISO. I will keep the 7D for any birding and wildlife trips I plan. The crop does get more reach out of the lenses and the AF on the 7D is much better for that purpose.

Each camera has its advantages/disadvantages.

That certainly seems fair. My NR regiment personally involves tweaking settings in bulk on the raw using DPP, then running an action per image that takes maybe about 6 seconds. I run the same workflow on 5D3 images, just a different action.

I had no idea there was such a thing, interesting.

It's only sold in a very limited market and doesn't really cost any less than a normal one. The only reason it exists is due to legality issues in some countries.

You apparently missed the MFA part of my post. This was from that. You apparently also missed the using a tape measure to square the camera to the chart part of my post.
You apparently missed the relative IQ between the 6D and 7D part of my post, making the absolute part of the test irrelevant.

Oh yeah? Lenses look better at f8? MFAs are done wide open.

For the record, I wanted to see if the camera was OK without putting a lot of frames on it as I didn't feel like it was my camera yet and wanted to be courteous to B&H if I were to return it.

I'm just saying that your testing is severely flawed for IQ purposes, and you didnt say that MFA was you're only method for testing IQ.

what was confusing was that you're using a test chart designed for IQ but for MFA purposes, and then passing it off as "relative" IQ, and then no samples from the 7D  It's really far off stuff.

and as much as you say you took measurements to square the camera, your image is obviously crooked.

I mean you made a claim that would go against 99.9999% of all user accounts and countless tests from reputable professionals, the burden of proof would be on you.

Yeah, he wasn't really testing IQ as much as AF. I wouldn't put too much weight on his results. But, to each their own. At least he ended up with the camera that works best for him.

I deleted all my posts regarding this. Either some didn't actually read what I wrote or their reading comprehension is poor. Either way I'm tired of explaining myself over and over and I really don't care. Please disregard my existence on this forum.

Cheers.

Note that the 6D sold where you linked to is the N version that does not have WiFi or GPS

Wow they have introduced an improved model AND it's cheaper!
I am considering a 6D for landscape/macro work (my 1DX is great but can be a bit heavy/awkward) and a cheaper 6D with the same sensor and less useless features sounds great to me!

No?
Yes!
It is significantly cheaper 139GBP (about $230 US) and comes without features I don't want, or care to pay for.
Sounds good to me.

No, as in it's not an "improved model", and no, as in it's not usually any cheaper... on average it's only $60-100 USD cheaper than the model which has WiFi and GPS.

Also, anyone who says they don't need/want WiFi have for darn sure never used it. I'll never buy another new camera without it. Full fledged remote control from 30' away and the ability to upload a quality JPEG to social media on the fly for promotional purposes (like events, I've used it for this twice) is 100% a game changer.

Definitely 6D for your use. I upgraded from 7D to 6D just last week.

No one yet mentioned 7D has more focus points than 6D. But again, not a big deal for your uses.

Also, I was surprised that the 6D has no built in flash. Prepare to add an external flash to your cost if u don't already have one.

It is improved because it doesn't have features that I don't want cluttering up the menus etc. It is £139 ($200) cheaper. It can upload JPEGS - I shoot RAW. I have no use for remote shooting.
Sounds improved to me, even if it's only the improved price.

well, you do nature/wildlife right? GPS is pretty damn handy:

you can log points of interest which can come real handy if you want to revisit another time.

I shoot RAW too, but uploading an unedited RAW file as a promotion for an event would be pretty pointless, having the ability to upload a quality photo while at an event is extremely handy. As for remote shooting, I feel sorry for your lack of imagination.

I don't understand why you'd buy a product from a foreign country with no warranty that's lacking features which will undoubtedly hurt resale value just to save at most a couple hundred bucks. But whatever floats your boat.
