I've noticed on the newer Canons (pretty much from the T2i onward), there UI has become sluggish. My 7D is very quick. The 6D, playing around with it, I've noticed can be sluggish at times.

I'd still go with the 6D though. Full frame is a hell yeah.

Not sure how you figure that, the Q menu makes changing just about every setting you'd need to change (except LCD brightness, I really wish this was in the Q menu) fast and easy.

He's talking about UI responsiveness, not UI arrangement.

Yes, the Q menu serves its purpose. But, I'm talking about the UI responsiveness. For example, if I'm in the Q menu, and I press the left arrow key, it takes about a quarter of a second before it actually moves left. Same for the OK button. I've only noticed that on the newer cameras.

If I were to do the same on my T1i or 7D, it would be immediate. I wouldn't notice a lag. :S

Interesting, I haven't heard that before. I guess you can't miss what you've never had  My 6D is noticeably quicker than my X-E1 or M in that regard, so I guess I never gave it much thought.

It's funny too how I wait about 3 minutes for my PC to boot up, just like I did in 1994. Well, my SSD notebook is less than a minute, but I'll bet boot times on those will be up to 3 minutes just as soon as MS and Apple figure that most people are running SSD. Good thing everything is so much "faster" in these days of high technology advancement.

From sleep or from off? That's ridiculously long if from sleep... I honestly don't know how long my Mac Mini takes to turn on from off, I haven't turned it off since I bought it , but I know it only takes a few seconds to wake up from sleeping.

From off. Some of my computers can just sleep, others need a reboot every so often.

That makes more sense then. I probably should reboot it at some point I suppose... I don't really know crap about computers, that's why I bought a Mac, I know, shame on me :o

my windows 8 machine on SSD probably boots up in 10-15 seconds ;)

M$ is actually improving in this regard.

I have a Windows 8 HDD desktop that heartily disagrees about any boot time improvement since 1994. My Win7 SSD laptop is under a minute though, and that's not login time, that's how long to see an email from power on.

I thought about getting an SSD, but so far my computer has had no slow downs at all with whatever I've thrown at it so I guess I'll leave it as is for now. If I were using PS an SSD would probably make a difference...? I only edit with LR, iMovie and browse the web on it, so, not very demanding.

Anyway, back to topic... OP; buy the 6D  ;)

wow, maybe bloatware? I'm running 8.1 on a laptop, and around 9 seconds for full shutdown with power off, and 8 seconds to boot into the login screen INCLUDING POST time. By far the fastest boot I've ever seen.

I have a WD black on my desktop, and it's fairly fast, but SSD blows it away. My laptop feels faster than my desktop, and it doesnt even have the processing power.

I have standard developer imaged Windows 8 boxes at work that take longer. No bloatware. These are spinny hard drives, not SSDs. My current dev box is a 3D workstation that I use to develop fighter simulators -- very powerful and expensive modern system with an image built from the ground up with no bloat. It takes 3 minutes to get to login. Same as my home system straight from HP.

ok, I assumed that you had SSD's on the win 8 boxes. maybe it's just the SSD's doing the improvements. Windows 8 is infinitely more usable with the start screen disabled and windows button set to open apps/desktop instead.
