Refurbished Cameras - Shutter Count?

My old 60D came with 2xxx pics. I was sad for about 10 minutes until I actually got to start taking pics and I realized it didn't matter as there was nothing wrong with it!

finally upgraded my trusty, old G2 with a refurb'd G12 from canon - just this past week. couldn't resist the price - not to mention live-view & a real lcd.

first shot on the G12 was IMG_0003.

the old G2 bailed me out so many times that it earned its place in the kit. I doubt that I'll ever part with it. it is what it is.

ps - of course canon could have reset the current image count & total actuations could be any positive integer. the eos counter software would not work on the G series - as these are not on the "supported" list.

I know we're talking about refurb, but I bought a Canon 40D on ebay for pretty cheap with about 20k clicks on it. Now has about 90k and still going strong!
I personally wouldn't ever buy camera gear new- way too expensive for me

Photo Continental in Brisbane. They are one of Australia's largest camera suppliers and I thought it was strange as well.

Perhaps someone in the testing department got trigger happy...

My refurbished T4i had 29 clicks. Looked brand new, had the "new camera smell"

In my mind, if you want to save money, refurbished is the way to go

That means nothing. You could get that if someone had put a memory card from another camera in your T4i and taken one shot as a test.

Well - just received my refurbished 70d - and it's got 3,947 actuations.

I just received a refurbished 6D via the Canon Loyalty Program. It looked indistinguishable from any other "new" camera and had just over 1,000 actuations. I have nothing to complain about, considering that I saved more than $500 off the typical retail price.

I bought a 7D refurb last week and returned it. It had over 45,000 shutter count. After speaking with a supervisor they admitted it was too much. They also told me to call, and ask for a supervisor if I must, but they can get an accurate shutter count of the refurb they send you before it ever leaves. Diane was the supervisors name and she explained it was possible.

Long story short I needed a camera to shoot a my daughters third birthday , Canon ran out of 7D refurbished for a few days so I just bought a new 6D from an authorized dealer.

I am not against refurbs, as I have owned two now, but I will have the shutter count checked if I order another.

more than average but if you got it at a good price and it comes with a warranty and the shutter is supposed to last 100,000 +
probably nothing to worry about

My 7d refurb had 12 actuations and looked brand new. I've put about 5,000 more on it as a back-up/second body and it has been perfect.
