I believe the queen would be down in the mound being attended to by all those worker ants.

I too believe the queen stays in the ant hill and I think she's a lot bigger and I mean extremely bigger.

As for ants...where are they when you want one? I think ours are hibernating!

I like your little colony, OhLook...we have incursions of ants during the summer and I have to put up little signs asking them to desist from marching around our kitchen bench.
