Thanks, Tim. These subjects met me halfway by occupying a windowsill. I didn't have to lie on the floor.

Thanks, Stina.

One ant looks bigger. Is that the queen?

Thanks, Stina.

One ant looks bigger. Is that the queen?

I believe the queen would be down in the mound being attended to by all those worker ants.

I love your mushroom forest, OldCrow.
I too believe the queen stays in the ant hill and I think she's a lot bigger and I mean extremely bigger.

That's a lovely mushroom forest.

I thought the queen ant didn't travel, but then I don't know what to make of the big ants. There were at least two that showed up at different times. Princesses?

I agree, OldCrow...that's a great shot! I'm interested in how you managed such a depth of field?

As for ants...where are they when you want one? I think ours are hibernating!

I like your little colony, OhLook...we have incursions of ants during the summer and I have to put up little signs asking them to desist from marching around our kitchen bench.

Growing old disgracefully!

I'm with Ricardo222, very good shot OldCrow, depth of field is impressive.
Penodr, like your shot too.

penodr, it's a nice-looking shot, but what is it? I don't recognize the object.

I'm preparing for embarrassment if it turns out that my household has one of them.

Penodr - nice take on the ants view of the edge of a coin, perhaps a dime?
