i remember this simple function used to exist in my old 550D. is it not available in the 6D? i checked through the EOS remote app as well, but to no avail. just need something that i can fire off multiple shots without having to click multiple times.

thanks!

It's called "Timer Continuous" mode and apparently only exists on the entry models. I have no idea why. ???

I think a timer remote might accomplish this or Magic Lantern might work(if available for the 6D).

Cameras with the N3 remote control connector are compatible with the TC-80N3 programmable remote controller. That accessory can do this, and then some, so cameras supporting it doesn't have the built-in programmable self timer.

This could be a coincidence, but you have to work hard to convince me that it's not something carefully thought out by Canon's marketing departement.

Magic Lantern for the 6D will solve this problem.

To get something straight:

Does EOS Utility not have "intervalometer" functionality for the 6D?

As to having it built-in, I don't know of any of the Canon DSLRs that have that, although I could be ignorant. But the Magic Lantern app is out there!

Not sure, but I don't think that the OP wants intervalometer, he just wants 10 shots in a row to be taken quickly. The Rebels have this capability, known as "Self Timer: Continuous" drive mode. Here, for example, is page 58 of the 600D manual explaining the feature.

Which is easily done with an intervalometer. And you don't need to spend a fortune on a TC-80N3, third party remotes will do just fine - Example (external link).

yes, i just need 10 shots to be taken consecutively, not the intervalometer function.

my current remote doesn't allow me to do this

short of buying another remote, is there another workaround for this?

unfortunately, Magic lantern is not maintained for the 6D and is thus not usable :(

I've not seen any Canon DSLR with a programmable timer, but my EOS 10 does have that functionality.

Tethered using EOS app will give you all the control you need but you may need to trigger from the app. I've used it fully tethered but not tried it any other way.

The intervalometer will do what you want as was previously stated. Just set the parameters and start it. You simply set it so there is no time between exposures, and set then number of exposures you want. It's what I use on my 6d. Don't try to reinvent the wheel when the tools are already available.

I have an el-cheapo ($12?) remote from amazon that will fire my 6D as long as I hold the button down. I am not seeing the problem.

Geokras, the problem I see with your suggestion is that for it to work the OP would need to keep the remote pointed at the camera, so it would be in shot. I assume that the OP's mention of the 'Self' timer means he is taking pictures of himself, but I could be wrong. Intervalometer or EOS app should work.
