Let's start using http://strawpoll.me/ (external link) instead of the silly posting to vote method.

This way everyone can vote without hassle. Cheat prevention is enabled.

Split off to a new thread since contest threads should not have any comments to distract from the entries.

Does that have a way of ensuring that only POTN members can vote? We've had problems in past contests with people bringing along their friends to stack the voting (and no, there weren't any prizes at stake, either)?

It looks like someone (presumably the person running the week's contest) would have to set up the list of contestants before voting would be possible. Also, it would mean a change in the current voting arrangement unless there's some method of allowing members to select their preferred top three, not just a single entry.

For me it's nice to see who is looking at the images and what opinion everyone has, what type of images are favored by whom. It's also nice to know how your image rates with others in each persons view. So I guess I like it as it is.

I agree with elfieh, who agrees with hnikesch. Let's keep this simple.

In that case why not attach a poll to the thread? You can enable publicly displaying who votes for who in a poll on these forums.

In the end the points all still add up, first second and third place are still shown.

But currently each person can vote for their own preferred first, second and third, and each person's first, second and third place votes go to making up their total score. Does Strawpoll allow that?

I haven't been here as long as you most of you people - but the POTN seems to work for those who bother to post and share their photos - so why spoil it ? So I agree with OhioHick, who agrees with elfieh, who agrees with hnikesch ...
