Somehow this sparrow got it in his head that he must have a piece of poly string that I used to hold my backyard "studio" together. Or, he simply wants to tear down my studio ...<shrug>

In any event, he showed up early yesterday morning and started pulling the knot apart. It was dark and I did not have the right lens on the right body so I could not get a decent picture to show (but would be enough for use as "evidence"). He did not get very far with the tough knot/string.

Today he came back *FOUR* times for the same purpose (even brought a friend on two of those occasions. However, the friend was more interested in the seeds on the deck). I was ready this time with my camera. Here are some photographic evidence of the act:

Eventually the determined thief/vandal did get away with a piece of string about 1 inch long ... All of that work over 2 days for that much!

(Seriously, can someone explain this behavior? Does this guy need some materials to build a nest?)

Thanks for viewing.

Nice series Linh. I like the last image of her tugging on the string. Yes, I'm sure she is just getting materials for a nest. I've seen some of the birds in my backyard gather hair from our dog for a nest.

Funny story and fantastic photo evidence Linh!
I hope your "studio" can withstand the attack of the killer Chipper :)
