never knew they existed... is there a problem with possibly using a non .com extension?

It's a recent thing. I see no problem with it other than it isn't a '.com'.

.net has been my main domain extension for the last 7 years. I've had no issues.

Saying that I do also own .com .com.au .co.uk .net.au .photo .photos and .photography

the thing that concerns me is lets say i wanted MAP.com and got MAP.photos or MA.photography

right now if i want to go to MAP.com i type MAP and hit CTRL+ENTER and the browser adds the www and .com and i go right to the site.

also if my site is MAP.photos, someone types in just "MAP" they go to MAP.com or google search brings up MAP.com and my site is far down the list someone cant get to it.

so i wonder if i just stick with my current .com flavor and rebrand the name of the site and leave the domain the same..

Yet, somehow you're able to make it all the way to: photography-on-the.net ;)

Who is going to search for 'MAP' to find YOU? People that want a photographer isn't going to search for your name. They are going to search for your specialty and most likely, your town.

Your current <title> tag isn't very SEO-friendly. I would change that to read something like this: "Southern NJ, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Portrait Photographer". That said, I think your title is a bit too broad.
