There's now a rumour forum, presumably because I'm not the only member that finds rumour posts quite wearing. Nevertheless, I appreciate that the rumour element to your post is quite incidental, also it's up to the mods and Pekka to moderate and lead the forums.
There are other cameras that use the BP-511A, including the 5D, which is one of Canon's most recent releases. I wouldn't be surprised if Canon are rationalising the chargers and AD adapters. There's so many alternatives for BP-511A, which is used not only by many of the DSLRs (but not the 350D), but also the WFT-E1 Wi-Fi adapter, the Powershot Pro 1 (which may well be replaced at PMA) and some of the Canon camcorders.
Personally, I don't think ACK-E2 makes that much sense - the only customers really are people that are going to shoot tethered. A card reader makes more sense, in my opinion, for downloading images.
The CA-PS400 is not only a dual mains battery charger, but can be used to connect the DR-400 "fake battery" and act as a mains adapter. It's an either/or thing - if you have a DR-400 plugged in, you can't charge batteries on the CA-PS400.
There are two other power options - though I don't believe either can be used with DR-400. One is CG-570, which is a dual battery base that can be connected to the mains with CA-570 or the car with CB-570.
The other is CR-560, which comes with a car lead, and can be connected to a camcorder mains adapter - but I don't know what mains adapter you'd need, and whether that mains adapter is suitable for DR-400. I believe this is intended mainly for camcorder users.
I hope this helps - if you figure out full details of the CR-560 option, do post them.
