Hello
I'll maybe buy a 24-105 zoom to my 6D but I wonder which one I should buy. Is it the legendary Canon EF 24-105 L IS USM or Sigmas new 24-105 Art?

One thing I love with the Canon is that it's weathersealed, the Sigma isn't. The widest I own today is 40 mm and after that 90 mm so a zoom should be great I think. 24-105, 120-300, 90 macro and in the future probably a 50/1.4. I do many jobs for a local company so a 24-105 is the superlens for that kind of job.

What do you think? Here in Sweden the Sigma lens costs 60-70 USD more than a white boxed Canon.

PLEASE......Help me :)

If you don't have a big used market there (where the 24-105 really shines price wise), but if the sigma is just a little more I think I would go with that (it seem's to be a little better all the way around from what I have read)(I don't have either just my 2cents)

Heya,

The Sigma seems to be a bit better than the Canon here.

But if you value weather sealing, then the Canon is the only option.

Do you really need the focal ranges of 85mm and 105mm?

Very best,

The Sigma wins optically. But personally I prefer weather sealing.

I think I'm gonna use the gap between 85 and 105, but not most of the time. I want to have a walk-around lens that have the possibilities to take landscape pictures too. I can't find a comparision between these when it comes to distortion and vignetting at 24 mm.

I think MalVeauX asked about the range because if you can live with 24-70, there are many more options. Including amazing and expensive (I don't own it) the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 MKII.

I regularly shoot with medium format digital in the studio(aka nosebleed sharp stuff). The 24-105mm canon lens is good. I bought one and stopped trolling craigslist(and this forum's sale section) and I couldn't be happier... Life gets better when you are not "looking" for anything.

When it comes to vignetting between Sigma and Canon 24-105 so it seems to be that I had to choose what I will probably use me the most out of which focal length. At 24mm (wide open) performs Canon's much better and at 105mm performs Sigmat much better. When I came to think of these 24-105 so it was much that I could use it for landscape photography too, when I from first considered purchasing a 17-40.

Now I do many tasks at a local business and it becomes very general photography in the daytime, from car shows and various celebrations outdoors but also very much at the pub in the evenings. So my thought is this:

For the same price as a new Sigma / Canon 24-105, I can buy:
Canon 17-40 + Canon 50/1.4 (Both USED)
Canon 24-105 + Samyang 14/2.8 (Both USED)
Sigma 50/1.4 ART (New) (For the pub, sell my 40/2.8 STM)

I'm tired to change lenses everytime when I'm out and photograph something for the company. I have anxiety about taking a decision!

I don't think that optical differences will be huge, but I do like the Canon. I haven't used the Sigma, but AF is very good on the Canon. I don't know about you, but I prefer Canon lenses, unless Sigma has something special that I want... like a 50 mm macro that goes 1:1, or a lens with clearly superior optics.
My 24-105L was a white box that came in a regular box. I wouldn't want to pay more for the Sigma version of this lens, and Canon prices in the white box version are so good right now.
I got mine from Adorama. I wouldn't hesitate to pick up a white box version from a reliable retailer with a good return policy.

Canon is and will be always on top of other third party brands. Canon is Canon. L is always an L!
To be taken in reference including focusing algorithms - Sigma has problems with autofocus.
Canon 24-105 + Samyang 14/2.8 is in my opinion a good choice (Samyang 14mm is an excellent lens)
I myself collect savings for a Canon 24-105L (17-40L also) I hope i can allow me to soon. :)

I got a seller that sell the Canon 24-105 + Samyang for 850 USD and the 24-105 got no box but warranty left to Oct 2014. Is it a good deal?

I'll see your biased statement and raise you:

Choderboy, everyone is entitled to his opinion and I think it is only fair.
