If you have 2 cards is there a way to have the 2 cards in order?

If the last photo of the first card is mountain_100.dng how do you make the first photo of the second card start at mountain_101.dng automatically without appending anything to the filename?

Cheers

I'm not aware of any way to do this automatically, but LR will remember your keywords in the import dialogue box and you can check the previous import folder for the image count so you can pick up where you left off.

in re-naming box---- then insert 101 in the start# box (or use next number following the last number imported off previous card)

^^This^^

It's simple and quick, because if you import the first card with the "base name" for the files and a "sequence" (you set this up with your file renaming template "Edit") then when you import your second card/batch LR "remembers" your base file name, you should remember your last sequence# and just type in into the file re-naming panel.

Lightroom displays them in chronological order.

Well, are talking about the Import dialog/preview/thumbnail display(s) or the displays in the Library/Develop filmstrip/Grid?

I ask because, well, I'm not sure how you can configure the Import preview displays, I just leave them at the default, which seems to be "Capture Time" (so orders by date/time).

In the "working" modules, you can set the Sort/display order in the little toolbar under the image preview(s), so you have choices there!

I was hoping to have this done automatically in the import (import photos and videos) screen rather than having to remember the next number to use...

The way it works now when it starts on the second card it does a mountain_xxx-2.dng for everything on the second card, I was hoping to avoid this -2 stuff

Yeah, sure, as far as I know you have to enter the sequence#, since LR is just working off a template...sorry!:)

Why don't you re-name them after you have imported them?

Well, first, my camera has never use a 'mountain' pre-fix ;-)a

However, when I change cards, it continues to increment the photos by 1.

When I'm ready to transfer to the computer, I copy/paste files from each card to the folder of my choice via Windows Explorer. Then I import that folder into Lr.

I use manual exposure settings on the copy machine
