Very nice shot Betty. I had considered going there in the spring but it looks very spread out, lots of walking/hiking. Did you find plenty of birds that weren't too distant?

About once a month they allow cars in for a guided caravan around the area. That's when we went. Lots of birds, but distance is a real problem. Most of the birds are very far away and my longest lens is a 400L f5.6. (Can't use a converter with it because my eyesight simply isn't good enough anymore to manual focus successfully.)

You can visit the site at other times, but you have to walk. You might get some good shots with your 500L, especially if you can use a converter with it. The place is full of snail kites and limpkins. (Guess there's an abundance of apple snails there.) We also saw a lot of stilts with families, but they were quite far away.

Enjoyed the visit, but getting good shots with the distance involved was hard and very frustrating for me.
