After having saved for a long time - over a year, I bought a EOS 5D MKII, JUST as they brought out a MKII, DANG!

Well I could not wait any longer, nor could I find another £900 odd for the MKIII, so I bought the camera, and I am really happy with it.

What I am not happy with is the rush to dump accessories, and the cute way Canon (and everyone else) makes things only compatible with one item.

I would like a genuine NEW BG-E6 battery grip (had one on my EOS 350D very useful) Can anyone help me with a UK supplier who is not a crook or dodgy website?

Tried the usual Jessop, John Lewis, Wex, Park etc.

Anyone?

There isnt anything inherently special about a grip, why not buy used and save yourself some cash?

I just bought a second hand 5D Mk II grip for about $100.
Looks like new, feels like new, works like new. Job done.

I know ther is nothing inherently special, but if even the slightest thing is wrong, and my camera has an issue the Canon will bleat, "Oh well if you use non approved" blah blah.

Just a bit narked at the way a model and accessories get dropped for the latest shiny shiny.
Will probably go for a Hahnel grip, seen some good write ups on that. Unless I can 'See' and 'Feel' a second hand model.
Thx

The grip is a pretty simple device, its an oversized battery holder with a couple of buttons. I would much prefer a used OEM than a 3rd party grip simply because you never read of any issues ever from a bad canon grip. There are plenty of reports of battery drain and other issues with the 3rd party grips. To your point about canon complaining about non approved, the used canon would be approved. But how is canon to know you used a grip at all if you send it in for an unrelated repair. I could understand a bit of angst over accessories that affect image quality, but its a grip.

I know it's on the wrong side of the pond for you, but a few places in Canada still show
stock on the BG-E6. Here are a couple examples:
