According to https://photography-on-the.net …hp?t=1412576&goto=newpost a version 4.1.15 is available through Canon Europe. It seems to cover a few additional cameras.

It is available from USA sites, also. I got mine at Canoneos.com's 6D page.

Been using it on the 6D images for a few months on Windows 7 Pro. I don't have much of an issue with the UI but there are some basic bug issues on my system:

a) Copy/paste recipe almost never works, the Paste is always greyed out except for two session so far. So I can save and load from a file but it is a time waste.

b) A gripe with the UI, the paste recipe to all has disappeared but it doesn't work reliably any way. Also paste crop to all is no longer available unless I edited the copy selection.

c) Probably the biggest annoyance is if I make global adjustments outside the edit window (ie just select in the images in the file view and popup the toolbox to make an adjustment), then when saved it almost always looses the rating settings but not the check mark, grrr.

On a positive note this version seems to have fixed the problem when saving lots of edits. The old version would popup an error window saying "unable to access file", which I would OK; this would normally be followed by another such popup. Anyway they seem to have fixed that one.

Just hope they fix some of the others. Holding off from using it for the 7D files just yet (still using V3.xxx which has none of these issues).

A lot to like with V4 if only they would fix some of the fundamental issues. No apparent way to report bugs - I guess they don't have the first line support infrastructure for that.

@Lester Wareham: Did you also experience that the version 4 is slower / laggier or just works harder on the images than the version 3 when working on the same Files?
I wonder if it is an issue with my System or if it is a problem with the Software...

Cheers, Kevin ;)

The last version was much slower than V3, but the latest V4 is a bit better, not any quicker than V3.

Hm... I have the latest version (4.1.50), and it still appears to be much slower than V3 for me.
Perhaps it is due to the fact that it now has proper 64 bit support, that the developers thought they could make it more powerfull as they would have better hardware at their disposal.
I also feel like that they have taken out some of the "power conserving" features of V3.
For example the noise reduction preview. In V3, you could open a small window, where you could adjust the Noise reduction settings, and it would apply them in real time only to a small selected fraction of your immage, and when you were satisfied, only then would you apply it to the whole image. Now, every change that you make to the NR sliders is immediately applied in real time to the whole image, which, of course, eats up a lot of CPU power.
That way, every time you move the NR slider a bit, you have to wait about 2 seconds until it changers on the screen and the lag stops, and only then you can proceed, which slows down your workflow signifficantly.

Perhaps they want to force the sales of new 8-core CPUs in order to use their programm properly?
I had quite a laugh when I saw the minimum System requirements for V4 on the web page...
"CPU: Core2Duo or better" - Yea, right... I want so see someone edit a raw file with this on a core2duo machine, that would probably take half an hour every time you make an adjustment
(I have an old Core2Duo Laptop lying around, but unfortunately it runs on 32 bit, otherwise I would have tested it out.)

Cheers, Kevin ;)

I think preview rendering and batch processing is slower than v3. My desktop is a good for its time but quite old.

I do have a dual cpu laptop (lowest power dual could get), it runs on it ok, but I have not used it much for editing.

I am not too woried about speed as long as it works, not quite there yet.

Still prefer it to Lightroom though...

That is true, but if you want to edit 300+ pictures of a friends Wedding it gets fairly anoying if you have to wait for it to render all the time ;-)a
And you would expect it to run better on a powerfull machine that was only built 5 Months ago.

Hi Lester,

Copy / paste recipe works well for me but not when the image is open in the cropping view. If you see the copy / paste greyed out then press the basic image adjustment tab and hopefully the commands will work.

On issue (a): It does sometimes work, more often since the last upgrade. It seems to be more likely to work if there is not much else going on when DPP 4 is started. This suggests it is some kind of start-up timeout issue. I have never tried it in crop mode so that is not a factor.

Issue (c) persists unabated.

Oh well I thought I'd discovered something there.

As an aside, DPP4 uses a lot of processing power, my quad processor is often 100% used during an image work up.
