read the description before bidding...seems a bit interesting, but it looks to me like you'd have to pay $81,000 somehow after the bidding is up:

Imagine buying something for $80K on ebay???

There are many inconsistencies and contradictions in the listing. The seller does not seem to have a good grasp of how eBay works . . . seems odd he would choose to sell thru a venue that he/she is so confused about.

Sorry but I am a suspicious git, having worked in fraud prevention for over a decade. The listing simply does not add up - even allowing for poor English = avoid!
I am happy to buy expensive stuff on E Bay (Canon 400 F2.8 L, Canon 300 F2.8 L IS, Canon 800 F5.6 L IS and a Canon 1DX) but this listing is just wrong!

I'm guessing since his limit is $5k, he'll send an invoice for the balance as shipping charges. I can understand why he is doing what he is doing, as ebay probably won't let him set the reserve at $81k, but it still doesn't make it right or that he'll get a buyer to pay what he wants. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets pulled in a day or so...

Pretty sure its against Ebay rules to demand further payment outside of the bidding - that and the broken English and the miss-listing of the item description screams scam.

(a good few people use deliberate broken English because it lets them "make mistakes" in their favour or say that "they don't understand" when they have to ship/pay)

ebay counts the shipping charges towards the total as far as final value and fees are concerned.

Yeah, but this way he stays under his selling limit of $5k. The shipping charges don't count towards your selling limit amount.

I don't think it's a scam to scam the buyer, but just to circumvent his ebay selling limits. He's only sold photo equipment, and he probably got this thing in and is just trying to move it. There are lots of very high end equipment sitting in S Korea and Japan that are available, and this is (IMO) just another one.
