I have a collection of Canon lenses. I also have the original red & white boxes and a Pelican case.
Should the lenses go back into their boxes or stay in the pelican case for moving across the USA?

Jun 18, 2014 19:25 | #2 Either would be fine. Obviously the pelican is more robust. But if you pack in oem boxes, pack those boxes in a single larger box with some padding inside. Just an idea. 5DIII, 24L f/1.4 II, 70-200L f/2.8 IS II,

Of course every time you open/close the canon boxes the weaker/chance of rip/break foam/etc... Canon 60D, Canon 10-22mm, Sigma 30mm 1.4, Tamron 17-50mm, YN-560 IV Flash (2)

Jun 19, 2014 19:24 | #11 So I ended up taking all the lenses & the body out of the Pelican / Domke cases and packing them back into their OEM boxes. Those boxes went into another shipping box. During the process I made a complete inventory with SN recorded. - Keith

"Dude, do you know how expensive and limited NYC closet space is?!" was not deemed a reasonable explanation, either. It was probably for the better, though - I now state that I don't have the original box even if I do - tends to weed out the persnickety and prevent future headaches. Bill is my name - I'm the most wanted man on my island, except I'm not on my island, of course. More's the pity.
