Hello everyone, I was searching on Canon's website, however I can't find out whether the G2 will support a 512mb Compact Flash card or not. I have seen lower capacity cards advertised on Canon's pamplets etc...Does anyone out here know or use one currently?

I wish I could tell you, but my biggest card is 128 MB, and that gives no problems.

I use a 512mb Lexar 12x card with my G2 and have not had any problems. I've had it since May and have taken up to 120 pics out of 171(?) available on the card. I only shoot in RAW. I believe Canon states that they won't guarantee performance above 128mb though. I wonder if that's because they only make cards up to 128mb and want you to buy their product?

I'm using a 512mb card from Edge. About three months now with no problems, though I haven't filled it more than 10% yet. I'll find out in three weeks with vacation coming...

Get 2 x 256 or a 4 x 126 card. For the simple reason if one breaks you still have another. Nothing worst than
having a ( one only ) large card break.

I think Get n*256 card are best choice.
You not have to use 512 card

G'day!

I disagree on not usefulness of 512Mb Flashcard. I have Kingmax's 512Mb Card and when I went to F1 GP in Melbourne last March I filled it up to the rafters. All in RAW format btw :) And it only took 3 days (and no night shots cause I don't have a tripod). Would 2x256 CF cards do the same? Probably yes but I love the ability of fitting 200+ pics on single card. It is truly empowering.

I would be looking forward at getting another couple of 256 so as to not have all my eggs in one basket :) but next purchase would be either a laptop or a storage device.

G'day Flagpole

check out www.mittoni.com.au (external link) for your next purchase
they flog their own brand and I've used it for about a year with no problems. They're cheap. Also there is another source at ebay.com.au selling PQI's for a good price as wel. I've just ordered from her also from Melbourne but shipping from Singapore ( no GST)

Here's another cheap local source http://www.shoalhaven.net.au …or/camcorder%20prices.htm (external link). Hard to beat for battery prices.
