Didn't see a new thread about this so here are the links:

June 19, 2014, Commack, NY – Tamron USA, Inc. has announced the delivery date of the anticipated 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD (Model A010), an advanced new All-In-One zoom lens for full-frame DSLR cameras. The lens will be available in the U.S. in both Canon and Nikon mount (Sony mount availability to be announced) on June 26, 2014 at $849.

Price looks decent, hopefully the IQ is decent too. It'll be a great travel lens in my opinion.

Not sure about that price...guess it'll depend on IQ. I got a 35-350L for $200 less than that. Sure, Canon doesn't service it and it doesn't have IS, but for outdoor stuff I don't really need it.

The other lens you can get is Canon's 28-300 that's still available, but it costs above 2k and it's 20cm long while being a honking 1.6kg. This guy's less than a third of the weight and half the size.

Id be more interested in seeing how the new autofocus system works.
Maybe this is the test mule lens for this AF system.

PZD is not new for Tamron. Are they doing something new with it in this lens?

I had an old Tamron 28-300 for a few weeks and, in hindsight, it was not a bad lens at all. I wouldn't mind owning one now for non-serious shooting.
