Believe it or not, it was the first prototypical "Pacific Northwet" day they'd had in nearly a month. I was told that August and early September were about the best 6.5 weeks of weather they'd had up there in a couple years.

I tried the lens with IS on and off in mode 2. To be honest I'm not sure it made a great deal of difference. I had a lot less keepers than when I've shot with a Sigma 70-200 non OS previously. I'm not sure if that is due to having a hangover though! As it is a hill climb and I'm generally panning at a slight angle to the horizontal I'm not sure how well the IS copes with this? I'll be getting out again to give it another try though!
