well ive been reading this thread for a while, about 5 or 6 pages per night for a long time. after finally getting to the last page, i went and bought the lens. my concern is will it be worth a crap on a T1i body. my next upgrade is a 60D but that could be a few months away. ive been using a 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS lens and was just really unhappy with how much it sucked at 100% crop and it never seemed to focus worth a damn. im really hoping i can get shots like you guys are getting. i just got the bug a few years ago for taking pics and have slowly learned about f stops, aperture and shutter speeds. i mostly shoot in aperture priority and shutter priority. this site appears to be very useful and i should have some shots for you guys to critique for me and get me on my path to better picture taking. its been a pleasure reading this thread!

Well then, welcome!

This lens is pretty legendary for great shots, and should serve you well. Of course, in time, you can check out the Mk II that was recently reseased, as well as some of the primes, if you want the ultimate in sharp performance, but all that does not make this lens "less" -- it is a great, wonderful lens!

Crop using less than ten percent of the above. This lens continues to amaze me.

I would be admitting the truth if I said I have been here off and on for a nearly a year. Goodness I did not know and you were the first to point this out. I also see an L with the lens. What does that indicate? Is there a forum where I should be? So sorry if I offended anyone. I'm 75. That's my excuse and I am sticking to it.

I was using the quality of this forum which is absolutely excellent to compair my work and study technique.

..and why is that as it won't make much if any image quality difference?
