Just got my 16-35L IS yesterday, really like it better than my old 17-40.

Looking forward to Canon releasing a full-frame camera with a vari-angle touch screen LCD soon for those low to the ground shots.

Can you explain what you find better in the 16-35? I'm considering an upgrade from the 17-40 but not sure it will really be an upgrade. I also have a 15mm F4 lens so extra width is not an issue.

The 16-35L IS is very sharp, corner to corner, at f/4.0, throughout the focal range. The 17-40 really lacked there.

The 16-35L IS is sharper in the corners at f/11 at the wide end, compared to the 17-40 at the same settings.

The IS makes a big difference for me as well.

QUOTED IMAGE

Great tones in the foliage there. Down here in Florida, I feel like I'm fighting bright yellow tones in any greenery, regardless of the environment or time of day. However, that nearly-turquoise tone is just gorgeous!

This lens should be a kit lens for one of those Canon full frame cameras, maybe 6D as 24-105 is a kit lens for 5D3, this lens is really shining on full frame more than a crop body camera, i would like to see this lens on Sony mirrorless full frame camera images.

Thanks - in fact it is not too hard. I bracketed the shot (handheld) then blended them in Photomatix before exporting and editing them in Lightroom.
