The IS in the 16-35IS would definitely put it high on my list for a helicopter shoot – the IS will definitely work more in your favor than would a larger aperture in a different wide lens. However, have you shot from a helicopter before? I've never shot from one professionally, but I have had the chance to go up a few times with cameras on various trips, etc. I always seem to find myself at the longest end of whatever lens I have mounted because things are definitely smaller than expected once you're up in the air. Of course, that entirely depends on what type of shots the client wants, the location of the hotel, and how close the pilot is prepared and/or allowed to get.

I have yeah, a couple times now and you have me thinking about it being too wide on a full frame. Maybe the 24-70 i have will be better or even the 70-200 f2.8II IS. I guess it was an excuse to get a new lens :-D

Wow.........something about that pic is just amazing.....the way the sharp middle of the pic contracts with the outside and the lights/blur is just awesome!

I am sure you will have fun using it. This thread if one of my favourites to visit, the amount of creativity is unrivalled by any other thread and I don't care what side of the fence you are. :-)

Just to be clear, it's not really a pic, but an image. This is a product of post exposure work, as in Photoshop.
I concede it's pretty cool, but a little cartooney for my taste.

Thanks for commenting Brules. This is an awesome location in Singapore. Our hotel was just 2 minutes from this location. We had a blast.

It is. It wasn't my intention to over sharpen the image as in not realistic anymore. Do you think I over did it a tad here?
PP isn't really my strong point (to say the least).

Its cool man, if you like it then its great. Over, under, just right is how we learn and get better. I think in photography, we go through cycles of everything.

Its an art, some will love it, some will view it twice and some will dislike it.

I think that if there's one person who liked what you did, then you must have done something right.

Have fun, that's why we are all here.

I don't know a single photographer that doesn't use Photoshop. I would actually say that most people would criticize a photographer for not doing any PP these days.

I think it's a great shot and looks fantastic.
