^^^ Been waiting to see some more Milky Way shots with this lens. Looks good. Just waiting for a clear night to try it out myself

Went out this morning for a nice sunrise shot but heavy fog rolled in. Got this gloomy shot instead:

raceshot - was the second photo just a heavy crop or is the minimum focus distance that small? (as far as I can tell the item in the photograph is some sort of decorative handle for unlocking/locking the car door, correct?)

A few shots from Monterey, California. This has practically been my walk-around lens there.

OUTSTANDING!
I have photographed the Milky Way before with my 24-105 at 24mm f4 but 30secs seem to cause star trails. Did you shoot shorter shutter length at higher ISO over 3200?

BTW I can never get the white balance right. Which did you use? Thanks!

Beautiful. I wish I had the discipline to be out of bed at that time on a Sunday morning!

Is this on the northern beaches?

^ you can shoot longer at wider angles. 500 rule ( divide 500 by focal length)

Actual proper real shots rather than test frames..

I LOVE this lens. It goes with me everywhere now, along with my 50L and 70-200.

Tried some Milky Way shots the other night. Wish I would have got a nicer foreground. Very pleased with this lens

thanks mate :)

i always go by the 600 rule (600/focal length) to get my max allowed exposure, in that case setting was 30 sec f4 ISO 6400, WB wise i manually set it between 3500-3800 pending on situation while i'm shooting and then just play around it until it looks right during post :)

continuing my learning curve with astro...got a bit adventurous last night and attempted a pano of the milky way...17 photos shot vertically stitched together to create this image

Time to lighten the mood a bit... haha

(Minor bokeh and vignette added in post so not true to the lens capabilities whatsoever)
