Canon Image Stabilizer - double "Chi" sound?

Hello everyone: I recently brought a new 16-35 F4 IS. I was testing it in a quite room. When I half press the shutter the IS makes a "Chi" sound. However about 1 second later it makes another "Chi" sound. The second "Chi" sound is new to me. I have a 70-200 IS II and it didn't make the second "Chi" sound. The IS does seems to be working. This only happen with the IS on. Anyone have seems this before

The camera body is 5d4

Does not sound normal to me. The IS on this lens is very silent, I have never tested it for noise per say, but shooting outdoors I usually have to check the switch to make sure its OFF/ON as its mostly silent.

However, if its working fine then I would not worry too much about it. Let's see if someone else has encountered something similar.

Hi docholidayda, thanks for your reply. I am concern why it's doing the second "Chi" sound. The first "Chi" sound is normal and I heard that on my other canon lens too. Thanks

I'm guessing the second sound is the IS disengaging. Also, it wouldn't be unusual for the sounds to get louder with age as parts wear and the mechanism loosens up.

I can hear it on mine and other lenses with IS if it is REALLY quiet where I am. Unless it is really loud its normal. Just the stabilizer doing its thang.
