This lens is quite literally one of the sharpest wide-angles I've shot with, and I've been fortunate to own pretty much all of them from both Canon and Sony. The IQ is the sole reason I've kept it in my kit instead of keeping a 2.8 zoom.

The drama seems to occur w/ tighter shots, to me, at least. But yeah, every shot I took looked fuzzy, especially next to shots w/ my 85 1.4, 135 f/2, and 300 f/4.

Maybe I will try it again, but I'm not thrilled w/ f/4 lenses. Yet the 2.8 does not have IS. So there you go. I wish Canon would put IS in all of its lenses. The "IS here but not here" thing is getting old, and it creates some overly difficult choices/compromises.

The first thing one hears about this lens is that it is extremely sharp. Fuzzy, unsharp shots are likely due to a bad lens or user error. Sometimes not taking a photograph can be as problematic as taking one. - Alex Webb

The lens will expose any/all mistakes one makes, especially if one does not understand where to focus within wide angle scenes, bad technique, etc... Have owned the 70-200 f2.8; 24-105 f4 v1, 100-400 II, tamron 150-600; The 16-35 F4 IS was still the sharpest of all of them!
