This is just great Rob. Beautifully clear and sharp with a massive field and no visible noise.
South Island NZ, right? Beautiful area.

Hey Rob,

Great shot.

You mention not running long exp. NR. Does that affect raw files too? I was under the impression most of those 'post' settings in-camera were only relevant to jpg files.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

Yep Lenr affects the raw. You can't reproduce it in post.

You can do it manually by taking an identical timed black shot and dark field subtraction later.

One of the few things you can't do later

That's good to know. I have been leaving it off this whole time. Maybe I should turn it on from now on.

yes i got the little stopper too after i finally did some tests and found the big stopper to be actually 12 stops not 10...

this is one that i took with the little stopper stacked with reverse grad and of course the new 16-35mm lens...

Wish I had a little stopper for that shot tbh!

10 stops (or whatever) was too long, I had to kick the ISO up to 400 even then I got 200 seconds, really unnecessary. A 3 stop wouldnt be enough.

Time to open the wallet...

Oh. i saw your cmt on your flickr, you used 1 big stopper + 3 stop grad, total 13 stop, right?
as you experience, we need big stopper or little which one do we usually use more?

Plus a polariser so more like 15 stops!

I probably would use the little stopper more.

exactly why i went with the little stopper first, imho from first light all the way up to point of sunrise 6 stops is plenty whereas 10 stops a bit too much

When I were a lad we didnt have no little stopper. It was all fields and big stoppers.

None of this fancy 6 stops of neutral density for us. And we were happy!
