Thanks. These pictures were taken with my 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x II teleconverter on the 7D. I was able to get pretty close to this kingfisher by keeping a large tree between us. At final distance, I was approximately 30 feet away, hid behind the tree trunk, and only exposed the camera enough to make the shots. Credit went to my wife who silently pointed out the bird to me (I was looking the other way watching for ospreys).
