Currently my go to travel tripod is the Manfrotto 190XPROB with a Manfrotto 498 Ball head.
Works fine as I put the tripod in suitcase with or without the ball head depending on weight.
Which gets me to the weight issue again. If I can find a smaller and lighter Tripod that will be able to support a 5D Mark III Gripped along with a 70-200 f/2.8! Mark II attached.
Below are a few items that peak my interest. Does anyone have real working experiences with either one and the ability to support the load.
Thank you.

Nick,
I dont have experience with those models, however I do with the mefoto globetrotter alum tripod.
It folds up to a very compact size, and is rated to hold 26.4 lbs! It also comes in a carbon fiber version but quite honestly the alum version isnt really that heavy overall. It has held my gripped 7D with my 70-200 with no issue at all. Since then I have sold my 70-200, but still use my mefoto globetrotter. It maybe be something to consider.

Capture today, for everyone to enjoy tomorrow!:D

Have a look at the Feisol 3342 and 3442 tripods.
I use Gitzo tripods but a close friend of mine has the Feisol 3342. I gave it a tryout with my Wimberley Gimbal 2 head + a Canon 300 F2.8 + 2 x extender (=600 F5.6) and a 1D4 and found it surprisingly good. It is very light, folds back on itself for compactness yet is very rigid. Have a look here:
http://www.feisol.net …ament-tripods-c-1_14.html (external link)

You have some nice gear so I think compromising on support may be a mistake (been there!) in the long run - the Feisol is about the minimum I would look at as a good long term investment.

Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).

I second the Feisol recommendation. My main and travel tripod is a Feisol 3441T, it is perfect.

I use a Benro C2680T which is similar to the Benro 2-series you link to at B&H. I don't own Canon equipment but my tripod was stable with similar Nikon equipment back when I used DSLRs. The prices on the Benro tripods from the NYC stores are way too expensive. Source from mainland China via eBay if you buy Benro.

I use the MeFOTO Travel Tripod and love it! High quality made by Benro and turns into a monopod as well if needed.

Another happy Feisol owner here. I have the 3441S, paired with a PhotoClam ballhead.

I own a Gitzo 1452T and Markins Q3 I use 90% of the time and "could" support the load you mentioned although it wouldn't be the stablest of setups. For a more burly setup I use an Induro CT214 and Acratech GP series ballhead which is rock solid.

I also use a Feisol for travel. I have the 3442T and I use it with an Acratech ultimate ballhead or an Acratech Long Lens head. The combo is very light yet is stable and holds a gripped 5D mark 3 with a 200-400mm lens with no issues.

Having never seen the three options I had listed above in live and in person, I was holding off until yesterday. While picking up an additional grid for my Apollo Medium at my local shop, I came across the MeFoto Globetrotter series. Aluminum and Carbon Fibre and in Black and Titanium.
Checked out the features, was looking good, able to convert to Monopod which is very convenient. Attached my 5D Mark III gripped with the 70-200 f/2.8 L IS Mark II and was impressed.
SOLD! The Carbon Fibre CF2350Q2 it is.....
Now which color?
Heads won.......Black.
Thanks Pictureman and the rest for recommending the MeFoto brand.
For the features, build quality, and cost this nice light "Travel Pod" will be trotting the globe with me in the near future while in Paris and Dublin...and anywhere else.

Another vote for Feisol. I've had the 3441S for over 2 years and they've served me well without any problems. But looks like the OP has already made his decision on the MeFoto. Hopefully it works out for you.
