When you're in Live View mode, it seems as if the metering is changed to spot metering with no other options. Is there a way to change it to evaluative mode at all? I like using this mode sometimes for landscapes and I like dialing in the focus with it, but I don't like the metering. Is this mode different on the 5D3 or 6D bodies?

jakovmarkovic gave the right answer in the beginning.

On live view shooting only evaluative metering is available.

p.112 of in manual: "The metering mode is fixed to evaluative metering for Live View shooting."

So if you have other metering set while shooting using the viewfinder the exposure will be different

In that same thread is a helpful comment from Chuck Westphal about Live View metering

It should be noted that (in the 5D2) LV Evaluative is somewhat different from regular Evaluative and is weighted to the focus box which can be fairly freely moved around the screen.

That's what I've noticed and it makes a huge difference where it is on the screen which is why I thought it was spot metering

For Live View contrast detect AF or manual focus the exposure is established with the scene included within the magnification rectangle, as mentioned above. When shooting, take care to leave the magnification rectangle on a portion of the image which is representative of the desired exposure.
This behavior is shared by all of the Canon dSLRs from the 5DII onwards.
