I saw the youngsters being fed, but I hadn't got my camera set-up yet. He was too close to fit him in the frame.
The male:

Beautiful Sandy, those little Hairy's sure look like they are learning the hard way. Number one turned out quite well for being so backlit like it is, the little Goldie is great, you can see him looking and learning, that's a cool shot! It is fun to watch them learn the ways of life.
Well done indeed!

Excellent! Is that string or fishing line on the tree in the second pic? Always interesting to see what birds will gather for nest material.

There will be days when you get the shot(s) you missed days, months or years before.

Thanks Bret. I was just amazed watching the Goldfinch looking at that perch. Maybe there was a bug crawling on it.

Thank you very much. It is a piece of twine that got left behind after a little restoration project. I noticed it after I uploaded the photos!

Thanks Jeff. Funny how all the best things happen while my camera is still in it's bag.

Thanks Carol. I'm glad I didn't laugh while he was doing that!

Thanks Peter.

The young male woodpecker is outside my window "drumming" on a fence post! So cute.

Very nice Sandy! The young 'Hairy's' are sooooooo noisy here, squawking at their parents to feed them, then following them around, it's quite entertaining to watch them. :)
