I wanna know how to light the BACKGROUND on Jill Greenberg's images. I've been playing with the my lights but i still couldn't seem to get it. My aim is to get that white halo behind the subject while the color is getting darker while it disperse. I tried using a snoot but didn't work. A standard flash reflector but still didn't do it. The speedlight I use is 5 ft away from the back ground and 6 inches from the models back, at high to mid back level.

Appreciate the help everyone. Thanks and cheers!

Did you get Jill's permission to post these images? If not it is a breach of her copyright and the forum rules. You can only post images you own the copyright to (or have permission to post). Otherwise you have to post links.

Thanks! The link didn't say much regarding posting other peoples work that's why I just credited the author for her work from the original post, maybe there is another set of rules I didn't read.

Can you post an example of some that you've done that didn't work?

Sounds like what you're describing should get pretty close.
What kind of backdrop are you using? You'll probably need something like Thunder Gray paper.

How many lights are you using? Are you saying that you are getting to much spill from the rim lights on to the background?
