I first posted pics of this guy in March as he was migrating north. He returned today for a moment. I'm surprised he has survived. Sorry for the poor quality pics but these were quickly done through my living room window.

That is amazing he is surviving, also, it always amazes me how they navigate as they do.

Yep he's got 2 legs. Only problem I can see is the beak.

Interesting, I have one with only one leg but I don't think he was born that way. this guy is amazing in that he has adapted....mine has learned to hover and fly in a hover around the yard

No
He is a Red Winged Blackbird. Normal beak on this guy usually. Interesting deformity.

That is amazing and scary to see. I wonder what caused such an unusual mutation? I assume feeders have helped him survive.

Am wondering if someone at a nature conservancy couldn't help this guy out. Has to be tough to eat like that.

My word! I've never seen a beak like that on any bird. It is a wonder he can eat well enough to survive.
