Sorry Carol I should have said....Its a Common Loon, There a bit of a Iconic bird's around here. Very much associated with being at the cottage on the lake with the Loon singing his song every evening as everyone is sitting around the camp fire. Thats how most see the Loon

Beautiful photos of a beautiful bird. When we see them down here, they don't have this beautiful plumage.

beautiful photos, beautiful bird!

I grew up spending summers in Georgian Bay. I miss it so much and one of the things I miss are the Loons every summer. I haven't had the chance to see one in years now.

Love these captures, Jeff.
They brought a flurry of memories to mind.
I lived in Beautiful BC for a few years after getting out of the military and can still hear the haunting call of the loon.
Gorgeous!

I've never seen or heard a loon. This video plays the call that you're all talking about. (external link) It sounds a lot like wolves.

More beautiful captures of the Loon.
OhLook, I've seen and heard the video of the Loon, although good, there is nothing like being there with them on a Northern lake surrounded by Pine Forests on a calm and foggy night, wonder how much company Jeff might have if he keeps posting these pics.
When they pass through my area they very seldom make a call, and they are few and far between, may see one or two a year on my nearby lake.
