5D III and slower card... 14 RAW images and it stops entirely.

With 32GB Lexar 1000x and after about 30 RAW images it just slows down the rate.

So I know some camera's stop completely when shooting continuously but my 60d (no matter the speed of the card) will do its full 16 raw burst and then slow way way down until you stop taking pictures and let the buffer clear. But at that point as long as you have a 30mbs or faster card it clears at the same rate (because the 60d can't write any faster than 30mbs. On the other hand my friends 70d can make use of a 45mbs card but nothing faster.

I recently bought a Sandisk Pro 95mb/s SD card to see if it would improve upon the performance of the 45mb/s Sandisk version in my 6D. Made no difference whatsover, I tried full raw, small raw, raw & jpeg etc. No differnce whatsoever. I tried turning off any of the in-camera features that improve images etc - still made no difference. I will stick to 45mb/s if I need more cards in the future.

i did a test myself too - using the sandisk extreme 45mb/s vs transcend 22mb/s (tested in cyrstaldiskmark).. results were the same on my 6d too. the benefit seems to be minimal or insignificant, even if we take into account how fast the buffer can be cleared. :(

In July 2012 I came across a mistake at a Best Buy store.
They marked the 95Mb/s 8 gig cards on clearance instead of their 30Mb/s cards.
They even had the speed posted on the clearance tag on the shelf. $60 card for $20 :D
Needless to say I quickly bought 2 of them with their price adjustment/ correction.
While my T4i didn't need the extra speed, it was great to have that fast transfer rate on my Mac when I started shooting Raw. They have never once failed me, so yesterday I ordered a 32Gig Extreme Pro card for my 6D
