B&W software

What Black and White software really brings out the punch? I'm in desperate need

I think a lot of folks like Silver Efex's from (I think) NIK. Personally I like to use LR for my monochrome conversions. I prefer it over Photoshop's channel mixer as you get two extra colour channels in LR, eight, instead of six in PS.

If I recall correctly Nik was taken over by Google (or is it Yahoo)...?

Besides Nik (which was taken over by Google) there is Topaz and OnOne. Of course there are several different methods using Photoshop or ACR/LR.

The Canon Raw processing software Digital Photo Professional (DPP) also has B&W/greyscale conversion, modeled after the in-camera presets.

I use Lightroom (with the same Raw processing "engine" as the Adobe Camera Raw found in Photoshop CSx) and have been quite satisfied with the Raw B&W Conversion and adjustments, and since it all takes place while Raw processing there is no need for a separate plug-in, which works for me!

I don't think its a boxed product to buy... it may be download only:
It's part of the Nikcollection... when google bought them they put all the plugins into one collection and drastically reduced the price.
