Now I know full well this is a long established and very well run place, and that's one reason I frequent it.

But 120 seconds between reporting threads? If one sees spam and reports it which is encouraged, and then sees more spam and wants to report it but gets that message, you have to wait 120 seconds between reports? I mean do people really sit at their computers and inundate the mods with reports? And spurious ones at that? That it's come to 2 minutes between reports?

In this busy day and age, I'm on to something else, as are many others, and 2 minutes is a long time. Seems a bit silly to me.

It's only 60 seconds between pm'ing, why twice as long for reporting?

Funny enough I just ran into this trying to report 2 spams. I find it surprising too.

You only need report each suspected spammer once. We'll find the rest of their posts.

It's happened to me before. I usually wait the 120.

Over the years it has happened to me, too. More than once. Multiple posts, different users.

A while back I was going to create a thread in this forum entitled "Let there be spam," but decided not to incur the wrath.

So what do I do when I try to report the second, different spammer and get the timer? I move on. I ain't going to sit around and wait. As said above, just "let there be spam."

JMHO, but it is absolutely ridiculous (not to mention illogical) to place restrictions in the way of somebody who is trying to help POTN.

In the future we'll set those limits based on post count (or other things). Old members won't have any forced "wait time inbetween posts or reports" limiters.

Pekka, when you say "Old members", who are you calling "Old"? There are folks in the "Old Photographers" thread who are barely 40!

Maybe a questionnare on some age-revealing facts would work? :)

Heh! Hey, I don't do so well on a lot of "questionnaires"! I'm sure it's not the "Old Man's Syndrome", though, although I can't remember any details!

That'll be exciting! Some of us are old enough to be allowed to send in a second spam report a full minute before our first one.

I think the age-revealing questionnaire might be handled with a single question:

Are you old enough to remember when Cher was constructed of her own, original body parts? :)
