I work in a company, that has a **** ton of FOC (Family of Companies)... Someone in a higher role than I am asked me to shoot some pics for free for their blog launch as her photographer backed out, she later hired me to do an event for a birthday party and overall she was happy with the work.

She asked me to become her full time photographer for her blog, ever week she does a series on women's fashion, 4 different outfits, 4 different locations. And wanted to know could she just hire me and pay me on a month to month basis.

I think I read here before when you go into these type of deals people start adding things for you to do, without increasing the price... So I told her I would get back to her on pricing and then she added they she may want a quick interview video on some of the female models as well, maybe 1 or 2 a month.

None of our previous work involved a contract, but I obviously think this one should, and how much should I charge her? Do I make the contract binding for the 12 months or just a new contract every month. It's honestly not many finished pictures, each model gets around 6-7 images, so I'll be submitting here no more than 30 images a week. Any advice idea? We also work together in a committee so just don't want to burn any bridges down the road.

Whatever your agreement is, GET IT IN WRITING!

Figure out how much work she is expecting you to do. Price it out as you would any other job. Then get her to write everything down with the outline of the work, the price to be paid, and a line that says 'additional work will be billed at $XXX rate" or something along those lines.

If you take your car to a mechanic, and ask him to add a bit more work than he normally does, he charges you accordingly. Don't get taken advantage of in this situation.

Get it in writing, and beware of scope creep - you already know it's going to happen, so be prepared for it.

Establish what she will get for each week in writing. State in your contract that any additional work would be billed separately and you can attach a page with your addon rates.

I want to guest blog on your Landscape / Travel photography blog, PM for details
