Well. I'm don't think I'm getting any better, but at least I'm not getting any worse. As you can see, I really don't know how you folks get such good macro shots. Other than you are really good at it of course. I've tried the spot and stalk method (takes me too long to get re-positioned for a good close up shot (too bad my sniper training doesn't work, maybe I need a 180 mm Macro) and I've tried the ambush method used here. Pick a good spot and wait them out!

I really don't want any criticism, but I would like some advise.

I don't see much to criticize here. Beautiful lighting, great focus. Lovely capture.

Is this cropped at all?

Thank you.

Yes I don't know how to do exact cropping, but is is down to about 1:1.

I think if you took the original photo and cropped to just around the flower, your photo would be as good or better than any of mine :D

Thanks. I'll try that. I worried that it might get grainy.

So you think there's something wrong with that? Can't wait to see one of your shots that you think is a real good one.
Love it, sharp, good contrast.

You probably wouldn't want to crop any more than that, but it looks good to me. ...and to clarify, the original didn't really need any change. They are both fine displays of macro.

Lovely capture.
Most of it is just practice and finding what works for you.

I agree with LordV.

PS. After seeing both, I kind of prefer the first one. That nice dark green bokeh gives it something special. :D
