Sorry to be harsh, but the only one of any interest visually is #3

#1 has too much empty space in the middle - the kites are just too far apart and too close to edges to be interesting

#2 -- simple snapshot to me

#3 is ok, but not hugely interesting

The one with the two kites: You have two quite different subjects, spaced far apart. I can't think of a composition that would do them justice. Take a shot of only one of them. If the dark one is supposed to be black, it's overexposed.

The one of the boy is slightly overexposed too. There's nothing wrong with snapshots. They serve a documentary purpose. Not everything must be fine art. Be mindful of the direction of light. His left side is shaded by his head. If you lower your exposure, it might be lost unless you used a reflector or fill flash.

The gliding down the dune shot: I hope you weren't mindful of the rule of thirds, because you put the subject in the wrong third. The space on the right contributes nothing to the shot. The glider is moving toward the bottom left. You should give him room to glide into. This one is frustrating also because you're quite far from the action. Use a telephoto lens next time.

For the 3rd image, I think it would look much better with a vertical crop. Maybe something similar to the below image.

Don't take this harshly, but they seem a bit too "point and shoot" like for my taste.

Not everything must be fine art.

Oh really Joe, then why do yours approach the object d'art appearance? ;)

I know this is an old thread but I am not offensive to any suggestions are way's I can improve my photo taking capabilities. I have little experience and when this was taken, very little time. Now that I have graduated I will be out doing more. Have a Ny trip coming up in July that i'm looking forward too.
