All of my photos nowadays are pre-processed with C1 -> Photoshop. I can't stand the way LR handles skin tones and NR.

Capture One's workflow was clunky at first, but I got used to it. I don't really use C1's color tools, because they're pretty confusing, and besides, I mess with colors in Photoshop anyway. Does anyone recommend against that? :P

Tethering with capture one is great.. Have been a user since v6.

If anyone's looking to purchase or upgrade to v8 the voucher code "AMBROSE" will net you 10% off.

That should come in handy, Zerimar. Thanks.

Is v. 8 worth the upgrade? Any bugs? I'm running Windows 7, btw.

I think it is. The significantly improved the image processing engine to handle details in the shadows much better as well as the speed of processing has been improved. I like what I am able to do in Capture one before I even bring the images into photoshop.

It should run fine on Windows 7. I heard OS X users are suggested to wait for Yosemite.

Can you clarify mac user experiences? it is easily my most clunky program, but the processing is worth the minor headaches.

I'm on 10.8

I haven't heard anything in specific. I notice crashing on occasion when trying to review images quickly. Still worth it for the processing though.

Waiting on the Yosemite update personally because if something isn't broken then why fix it :p

Well, I upgraded. Thanks, Mr Zerimar for the code.

Now, I also have a MBP running Lion and I've my second copy of C1P v. 7 on it. Should I upgrade that one too or leave it alone? (I don't want to upgrade the OS on that laptop ever.)

You're welcome!

I am unsure if Lion is supported by V8. I recently was on a job where the client's iMac wasn't able to run V8. Luckily I still have 7 installed so I can run either one.

I'm a mac user on Mavericks and coming from aperture with LOADS of plugins i love it.
It's a lot more advanced that aperture and is forcing me to learn to process 'propperly' using the tools available. I haven't yet used a preset and i've been happy with my work so far! The only thing i miss is the view from aperture. The seamless method of switching between library view and full screen is something i may have configured wrong on C1V8 but as others have said it's hard to find information on setup and configuration. I currently use catalogues and all my files are contained within.

Hopefully i'll get the hang of it eventually!

So what's it with this 'Auto' new curve that v. 8 has? It seems a clone of the Film Standard curve.

C1 automatically chooses from the curves available - it will automatically apply Film Standard most of the time.

getting real sick of the buggy nature of this software. Looking like i will be doing a clean install for the second time in about 8 months since i bought it. I cannot create a new Catalog without the program immediately quitting. Actually the first time I created it went fine until i started importing images then it crashed. Since then it has been crashing constantly.

Going to get a biscuit and try to figure out what is going on with my mom's car, will come back later to reinstall, on a Mac if anyone has any pointers. So frustrating for this software to have such potential and be so buggy.

I was an avid LR user and switched over to C1 a few months ago. Once you get used to the interface, it's actually not bad and, honestly, I'm liking the way my images are with C1. They just seem to have more depth and more latitude than LR.

What OS are you running. Phase One have recommended against running C1 on Yosemite until they fully support it. That said, there are people running it on Yosemite with no problems. I have and no problems on my install in Mavericks, late 2011 MacBook Pro.

Sorry for your frustration.
