I was an avid LR user and switched over to C1 a few months ago. Once you get used to the interface, it's actually not bad and, honestly, I'm liking the way my images are with C1. They just seem to have more depth and more latitude than LR.

this is exactly why i started using it. RAW processing can't be touched.

What OS are you running. Phase One have recommended against running C1 on Yosemite until they fully support it. That said, there are people running it on Yosemite with no problems. I have and no problems on my install in Mavericks, late 2011 MacBook Pro.

Sorry for your frustration.

10.8.5

I use tethered shooting quite a bit, but the "Camera" menu up by the Exposure, Library etc tabs disappears and has done so after the original instal and the first reinstall. So I create a custom menu with all the camera control tools but it too will disappear after a while for no known reason.

All the tool icons in the middle of the Viewer also disappear on occasion. I have to control click to choose "Customize" and as soon as I choose that the menu magically appears.

Absurd.

If you go to Preferences > General - is your application configured to use OpenCL for processing and/or display? Try setting both to "never" instead of "auto" and quit and try things that normally cause problems to see if this alleviates the problems.

wow. this immediately fixed the menu problems, but didn't touch the crashing issue.

thank you.

Capture One Pro 8.0.2 was just released 2 hours ago and among many things, it provides support for the Canon 7D Mark II and it says that it is now compatible with OS X Yosemite. (Plus much, much more.)

I'm an Apple Aperture user and am still taking my time to find a new post processing home. Capture One Pro is definitely on my radar. I'm just waiting until my travels slow down a bit around the first of the year and then I will start the free 60-day trial to see if I like it. I want to make sure I'm actually around enough to give it a good test drive!

Cheers,
Bryan

I have 7 and have not tried the 8 version as I still drag the image into LR5 to put on the final touch. As I have more time indoors this winter I'll try 8.

Mostly done in Capture One 7

Can someone help me understand CO Noise Reduction on high ISO shots ?

I just can't seem to get the same strong noise reduction of LR when using brushes. In LR I used to run a brush with high NR value and a negative Clarity value on the background in some High ISO shots to minimize noise. It seems that in CO even taken to the highest settings the effect on noise is much less profound.

Any tips / help appreciated !

i haven't had that experience, but have you looked at the Local Adjustments tool? You can mask an area and run another pass of noise reduction on it. At least I think NR is one of the things that work with the Local Adjustments. C1 is still crashing on every import so i'm waiting on tech support to get back in touch and not using it right now.

Yes, someone on some other forum suggested C1 was developed for Phase One camera that is basically shoots at low ISO and so the high ISO noise is not well developed... I guess I need to play with it some more. But it seems to be able to bring detail in photos like no other Raw processor I used.

Was wondering if anyone uses the exposure warning feature in capture one pro and what are your threshold settings?

I do.

250 for the highlights and 3 for the Shadows.
