So far I really like how clean the files are. Even at ISO 6400 there is minimal noise. I cannot really compare these to the 7D, IMO. The 7D sure has more noise but its a larger, coarser, bigger "grain" more difficult to work with. I found that Lightroom fell short when dealing with so I used Dfine2 from NIK with great results. The 6D files don't need much work in that aspect and when they do Lightroom works just fine. Colors seem better SOOC with the 6D files, more natural. With the 7D they looked a bit orangey but that is something you can easily work around with Lightroom. Im not finding any issues with the focusing points but I'm a center point mostly shooter perhaps due to my film days first experiences.

I do miss the crop factor, specially with little birds. My Bigmos works much better with the 6D though. Cleaner and sharper. I'm using my 400mm prime with my 7D which is a pair made in heaven! BIF (checked!), static subjects (checked!). The AF system of the 7D cant be beat, period! The 400mm focuses faster and tracks a whole lot better with the 7D. Funny thing also, the images from my 400mm seem sharper and clearer in my 7D! Why? Don't have the slightest idea!

The 6D feels well built but I miss the joystick! Apart from that the controls feel good and solid. The camera's texture is quite pleasing to the touch.

Both 6D and 7D complement really well, IMO and could not live without them.

How did you lock in the same white balance between the 2 when comparing? Color shifts can occur due to color space (Adobe vs sRGB), picture styles, and white balance. Were all 3 of these identical from both cameras? Also make sure ALO is off on both bodies, that can mess with the noise a bit.

What is ALO, excuse my ignorance. Are we talking about my Flickr pics?

Auto Lighting Optimization, I believe. I found that it made shadows pretty noisy, and I now just turn that off for all my cameras. I am trying to figure out the color shifts, usually this is caused by a white balance difference between 2 cameras when comparing back to back shots. I ended up taking each raw when I compared 2 cameras and setting the same white balance color temperature on both.

Well I will check that out. I had both cameras in AWB.

In relation with the images themselves, its obvious the superiority of the 6D, Cleaner, sharper and with much more detail. In defense of the 7D, the files need much more work but if taken with the right exposure and knowing your software they can rival the 6D.

I looked the menus of both cameras and cannot find the ALO thing?? LOL!

Most likely AWB is creating a different WB value between the 2 cameras, creating your differences in color. They should be pretty close to each other, with the 6D having a bit more vibrancy. There shouldn't be a color shift, at least nothing very noticeable.

Its possible, I noticed the difference but to my eyes its not that much. I also like to play with the luminance and saturation while working with them and its likely I had something to do with the shift you are seeing. I dont follow a strict method while working with them.

On the 7D, the ALO setting can be found under the second from the left Menu selection (second option down).
